| The Edible Kind |
I like to consider myself quite an astute and observant person, however, it seems that I have been completely oblivious to the pineapple craze (the word almost needs a capital "P") that has "recently" taken over home decor. Pineapple bookends, cushions, wallpaper, lanterns, door stoppers, vases, miscellaneous decorative pieces and even chandeliers. The fact that this "
pineappling" has been happening for months right under my nose and that it is particularly rife in my own neighbourhood is a huge blow to my ego! Apparently, this pineapple trend is not new. The pineapple has been a symbol of hospitality throughout history and a symbol that the man of the house was home -albeit briefly! As I sit in my terrace, not a pineapple in sight (other than the edible type in my fridge) I wonder what other crazy things my neighbours are up to and whether I will eventually succumb to this pineapple craze and buy my very own (non-edible) pineapple! Would you? Have you?
