Art - Nicoletta Ceccoli

Surreal, magical with a sense of loneliness - I love the work of Italian artist Nicoletta Ceccoli.   Check it out @ http://www.nicolettaceccoli.com/

We are one week into March.  It's actually Art Month in Sydney.  I'm looking forrward to hitting some of the exhibitions around town (there are over 200) to help me get through the grief that has come with the end of Summer (though today looks like it's set to be a gorgeous day)!   There is no better reason to get off the couch on the weekend and mobilise.

You know those amazing pictures you see when you flip through your favourite fashion magazine?   The ones with the beautiful gowns, doll looking figurines, a couple of livestock thrown in for good measure or a peacock?   The ones that remind you of fairytales, dreams and your childhood?  Well, that's Tim Walker (London Photographer).   He is hands down my favourite man walking around with a camera at the moment!  After the week I have had already, I want to make like Alice, and throw myself into any one of Tim's pictures and live there forever after!   Alas, I have to stay here and get through today!  I will, however, buy myself Tim's book - Story Teller to cheer me up!    Looking forward to the other side of Hump Day!

House Hunting

In case you missed it, the "house" is the narrow structure between the two buildings

Keret House by Jakub Szczesny
122cm Wide at its widest - but clearly practical enough to fit a beanbag

House hunting every weekend can be a drag, exchanging terse words, theatrics (think statements at the top of your voice along the lines of: "oh, I think the walls are asbestos"; "lots of termite damage here") weekends that fly by, repeating the mantra "violence is never the answer" and some tears!  It's exhausting!  The Keret House in Warsaw (thinnest house in the world) actually made me laugh because during previous intensive house hunting periods with the Boyfriend, I'm sure we viewed properties not much bigger than Keret House (and for ridiculous sums of money I might add - it's all about the location apparently, who cares if you have to walk through the house sideways and you can't fit your couch in the 3.5 metre long living room?)   The boyfriend and I decided to put the house hunting on hold about 12 months ago and to focus on travel instead -  a much more fun and soul fulfilling experience.  But, all good things come to an end and it's time to start searching for real estate and spending the weekends doing all of the fun things I mentioned earlier!

p.s. If Keret House isn't your thing - check this little number out (gives new meaning to "home is where the heart is" and to home security)!

OMG The Bags SS13!!!!

Love the pieces @ London jewellery house Mawi.  The pieces are so bright and elegant.
Dylan

Raffaela

Dannijo  - I love the bright, opulent pieces these New York sisters create.

"As I look at some of my jewels I realize what a very lucky girl I am. Sometimes I wonder what will become of everything, because just like the Duchess of Windsor’s collection, they will all be up for auction one day. They will be scattered to the four corners of the world, and I hope that whoever buys each piece loves it as much as I do and takes care of it and realizes that having jewelry is a temporary gift. In truth, we ‘owners’ are just the caretakers. Nobody owns beautiful paintings. Nobody ever owns anything this beautiful. We are only the guardians.” – Elizabeth Taylor, My Love Affair With Jewelry

Farewell Summer

Yesterday was the last day of Summer in Oz. (Not Oz as in Dorothy and the Wizard, but the Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe Oz!)  Whilst I'm sad to farewell Sunday BBQs, cold beers, sun, beautiful beaches, bronzed skin and cocktails in Bondi watching the sunset, I'm looking forward to Autumn (which officially starts today - 1 March, but as it turns out the Autumn Equinox isn't until the 20th of March - translation: it feels more like Summer than Autumn until then).

Caloric Cuvee
Tonight I'm looking forward to a few TFIF (thank f* it's Friday) drinks, to celebrate the end of another big work week!  I love these calorie counting wine glasses - I suspect I will be having a few "Who Cares" moments tonight!
Enjoy the first weekend of Autumn and if you get some down time here are some things to do, be inspired by, read and see:

# Head down to Sydney Mardis Gras Parade this weekend. Always a fun night!
# Aimee Song's blog - Song of Style
# Go on a shopping spree @ Saks 5th Ave from the comfort of your couch (there's some great sales on)
# Amazing NYC Apartment
# Cuffs I love
# Head out for Saturday Brunch & Some Market Action
Hilarious
# Project Sandwich

Have a good one and make it memorable!
